			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many people know about that famous song that says that diamonds are girl&#8217;s best friend. It is the same with web sites and email newsletters. You can&#8217;t have a great email newsletter without great web site. At least it is very difficult.</p>
<p>In our previous articles you can read about best practices in choosing your domain name and web hosting, which are one of the most important steps in having a successful site that will generate new email subscriptions.</p>
<p>In this article you will learn how you can design your web site and which techniques to deploy in order to increase subscription for your email newsletter.</p>
<p><strong>Location, location, location</strong></p>
<p>You should place a notice about your email newsletter on visible place on your web site. However, it is quite obvious if you visit many corporate web sites that you can have a hard time to locate their email newsletter. So how they can expect to have a good subscription rate and stay in touch with their visitors!?</p>
<p>Beside visible notice on your main page, you should put your email newsletter info on every page, preferably on side bar. Companies who know principles of successful Internet marketing make a special resource section in their main menu. This section is also great way for persuading your visitors to become your subscribers. There you can include value-added content for your visitors like best practices guide relevant to your business, tutorials for your products, white papers, newsletter archives and useful the page with useful links from your industry. It is very important that your visitors can read previous issues of your email newsletter in order to decide whether or not to subscribe to your email newsletter.</p>
<p><strong>Subscription forms</strong></p>
<p>Subscription rate is very much connected with subscription form. Many email publishers make mistake and require you to fill many fields that can turn your visitors away from subscribing. People are concerned with privacy, especially on the Internet so it is not wise to ask questions like &#8220;What is your salary?&#8221; If you still want to ask those kind of more private questions you can make them optional.</p>
<p>You have to focus on several most important questions like First Name, Last Name, Email Address, Gender, and Country. Of course it is recommended to offer your visitors to choose to receive your email newsletter in text or HTML format. For example, if you sell email marketing (or other any other) software or service you can place additional fields with question like &#8220;Do you plan buying or changing your current email marketing software?&#8221; If their answer is Yes and they chose to be contacted, you can contact them via email and ask for the best time to call them and to discuss possible arrangements regarding buying your email marketing software.</p>

Although, this way you can get many new subscribers, you have to be aware that many people (especially more experienced Internet users) consider pop-ups annoying and unprofessional. However, if you still want to use pop-ups to place your subscription form make sure to include a standard &#8220;[x]&#8221; character for closing your pop-up window. The best technique if you use pop-up for getting more subscribers is to use cookies in order to track new visitors. This way you can display pop-ups only to your new visitors. It is not recommended that your visitors see your pop-up more than once.</p>

<p>There are several great techniques that you can use on your web site to increase your newsletter membership base. White papers are great way to turn visitors into members and members into buyers. White papers are considered as more &#8220;valuable&#8221; than &#8220;common&#8221; articles. You can create white papers full of quality content and offer it free only if your visitors subscribe to your email newsletter. You can include download links in your Welcome message. Studies show that this way subscription rates increase several times.</p>

<p>When helping your prospect to reach an informed decision to do business with you, create a competitive advantage by not using hype in your message. This starts with understanding the difference between Excitement and Hype.</p>
<p>Excitement is the natural positive attitude that is displayed from within when sharing something of value with someone else. Hype includes incredulous claims or &#8220;smoke and mirrors&#8221; that display a message to the prospect of being &#8220;too good to be true.&#8221; Put another way, Excitement doesn&#8217;t need to include Hype but Hype almost always includes Excitement. Be aware of how your message is received by your prospect. No one likes a grouch or someone who is boring and Excitement is contagious. It&#8217;s easy to miscommunicate. By watching which words you choose, your message will be more clearly communicated.</p>
<p>Cause</p>
<p>Why does all this confusion occur? One of the many reasons is that people suffer from information overload. They simply can&#8217;t process everything they receive via email &#8211; nor do they really want to. </p>
<p>As much as you would like them to, recipients of your email messages don&#8217;t give every message they receive from you their undivided attention. In reality, people read email quickly; they do other tasks while they read email (such as talking on the telephone); and they ignore messages altogether. </p>
<p>Even under the best conditions, it&#8217;s easy for the information you send to become distorted. You don&#8217;t want to complicate matters by sending email messages loaded with technical terms or industry-specific jargon that would require the reader to decipher the language before he/she can even begin to use the data.</p>
<p>Example</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s an example of how easy it is to miscommunicate. Even when people are saying the exact same things, they can say them in such a way that they cannot understand each other. Have you ever done this?</p>
<p>Directions:</p>
<p>The following are familiar sayings you have heard many times. However, the wording in this example is different. Can you re-phrase these statements using more familiar language?</p>
<p>1. Compute not your immature gallinaceans prior to their being produced.</p>
<p>2. Pulchritude does not extend below the surface of the derma.</p>
<p>3. You cannot estimate the value of the contents of a bound, printed narrative from its exterior vesture.</p>

<p>List building is a very tall order for a beginning marketer. Many new marketers don&#8217;t get to building their optin list until a year or two after they start dabbling online. How can something so simple and so important get forgotten and unused?</p>
<p>You are either 1 or 2 type of people&#8230;</p>
<p>1. you work hard promoting in traffic exchanges, forums, groups ect. and still are unable to make a significant dent in potential sales on the net.</p>
<p>2. you have worked hard for several months marketing your rear off and you have built 1,100 subscribers and have a followup series in place to generate sales.</p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t take long to figure out that you want to be person #2.  Bottom line is that you should be building your list before you start promoting anything online. How? I&#8217;ll keep it really simple! Give away free e-books, guides, software, advertising, information, and generally anything people could ever want. And before they can gain access your free gift they have to double optin to your list! Pretty easy huh? well actually it is if you think about it. Just think&#8230;. if you were able to capture 2,500 subscribers or more a year then have 2,500 or more people that will buy from you again and again and again!</p>
<p>Get the point? I thought so!</p>
<p>Did you know that there are some tricks to getting some additional subscribers? They are called ezine swaps or thank your pages. Quite simply, meaning that you receive additional ad exposures from other top Ezine lists. In return you also show these same top ezines when people subscribe to your list.</p>
<p>Heres how it works. You worked hard to signup a subscriber right? Well now they must double opt-in meaning that they must confirm their subscription to your newsletter or autoresponder. When you subscriber clicks the confirmation link they will be brought to a thank you page that will feature additional ezines that they can subscribe too. They can either subscribe to additional ezines or click out.<br />
 Each time someone confirms a subscription you will receive a credit at the &#8220;List Builder&#8221; program that you chose to use as your thank your page provider.<br />
 Your credits will be used the same way and shown as additional ezines on other top newsletter subscriptions.</p>
<p>Once you try these thank you page &#8220;List Builders&#8221; you will be amazed at how many extra subscribers you pull in each week. I can tell you from experience that I average around 30 or more subscriptions each week with these thank you ads.</p>

<p>How do you install the thank you page URL? Very simple, lets use e-mail aces for example. Once you login into your back office there is a tab that includes autoresponder options. Simply copy and paste your Advertising Know How&#8217;s list builder url in there and start gaining credits with your double optin confirmations.</p>
