Carpet Flooring Design Ideas with Fun on the Floor

In many of the industry magazines it has been noted recently that sales of striped carpet flooring have increased by two hundred per cent this year as influences from the fashion world continue to have an effect on interior design, providing some fantastic, hip flooring solutions for living spaces.

For a sizeable amount of time it has been noted that the relationship between the fashion industry and interior design industry is inextricably linked; there is also a consensus among interior designers that it’s really exciting to be working with carpet again after years of having to focus on alternative flooring choices such as wood. Stripes can be put to effective use in flooring and can be used as a great asset when designing. They can be used to lengthen rooms, adjust perspective, and bring together much wider colour palettes than you’d usually be able to use.

There is a consensus among those in the fashion and interior design industry that a lot of the iconic styles which were synonymous with the Seventies have started to re-emerge in regards to carpet. In terms of colour, on trend customers as well as interior designers have been asking for old-school 70’s shades such as deep purple, tangerine orange, and forest green.

The online carpet retailer Fun on the Floor are creating a unique space to showcase such carpet ideas. What is being called the Fun on the Floor House will act as a showroom through an array of creatively designed rooms that feature carpet in stunning, creative and unique ways based on current interior trends and popular carpet choices. The house will be open by invitation to trade, national, consumer, regional journalists as well as key influencers such as interior designers, production companies for a free shoot location up until December.

To mark the resurgence Danielle Proud, a well known interior designer, is creating a unique, themed, styled space that features six differently themed rooms. The Fun on the Floor house will be a demonstration of how carpet is a material that can transform a home without costing an arm and a leg through a combination of texture, style and colour. People who go and have a look for themselves can expect to explore the sensorial nature of carpet, appreciate its luxurious look and enjoy the fluffy feeling underfoot – not to mention appreciate its sound absorbing qualities.

Some of the top fashion gurus like Paul Smith have played a pivotal role in promoting the strong colour palettes now available in stripey carpet collections. Many of the new styles are being given headline space in the interior design industry as well as featuring on the coolest floors across the UK. Brightly coloured stripes can add an extra something to neutrally decorated rooms, or make a less overt impact, complementing different scale striped soft furnishings.
